Built for everyone.

We are committed to making our website and our trainings accessible to all people, including people with disabilities.

Equity means everyone can take part. The Racial Equity Institute works to ensure that our digital presence and our trainings are usable by people of all abilities.

Our commitment

WCAG 2.1 AA

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These internationally recognized guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work to improve continually.

What we've built in

Concrete measures

To support accessibility on this site, we:

  • Use semantic HTML structure with clear headings and landmarks.
  • Provide a "Skip to main content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users.
  • Support full keyboard navigation and visible focus indicators.
  • Offer a light/dark mode and respect the device color-scheme preference.
  • Provide descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Aim for sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds.
  • Use responsive layouts that adapt to zoom and small screens.
Training accommodations

Accommodations for our trainings

We want every participant to be able to engage fully in our workshops, conferences, and consulting. If you need an accommodation — such as captioning, materials in an alternate format, or other support for an in-person or virtual session — please let us know in advance through the special-request section when you register, or by emailing us, so we can make arrangements wherever possible.

Tell us how we can do better

If you encounter any barrier to using this website or participating in our trainings, we want to hear from you. Please email info@racialequityinstitute.org with a description of the issue and the page or session involved, and we will work to address it and to provide the information or service you need in an accessible way.
